Overview

Trading 212 is mainly an investing app for buying real shares and ETFs without paying commission, and it's popular with beginners and long-term investors in the UK and Europe. It also runs a separate CFD account for leveraged trading. It's regulated by the FCA in the UK, CySEC in Cyprus, BaFin in Germany, ASIC in Australia and the FSC in Bulgaria. UK clients get FSCS cover up to £85,000. It doesn't take clients from the US or Canada.

Accounts and costs

The Invest account lets you buy stocks and ETFs, including fractional shares, with no commission and a minimum deposit of about $1. The catch is a currency fee of up to 0.15% when you buy something priced in another currency. UK users can also open a Stocks ISA and a Cash ISA, so gains stay tax-free. The CFD account needs $10, charges through the spread with no commission, and adds overnight interest on positions held past 22:00 GMT. Retail leverage tops out around 1:30 on major currency pairs.

Platforms and markets

Everything runs on Trading 212's own web platform and mobile apps, with TradingView-style charts built in. There's no MT4, MT5 or cTrader, and you can't link your account to TradingView. You get thousands of real shares and ETFs, plus CFDs on forex, indices, commodities and stocks. A practice account comes free.

Money in and out

Bank transfers in are free. Card and e-wallet deposits into Invest accounts are free until you've put in €2,000 in total, then there's a 0.7% fee. Trading 212 doesn't charge for withdrawals or inactivity, though your bank might. Money generally goes back to the method you deposited with first, and most withdrawals take one to three business days.

What traders say

Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.

Trading 212 is one of the most reviewed brokers anywhere, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. It holds 4.6 on Trustpilot from about 105,000 reviews, a total it passed 100,000 on in August 2026. Most of those reviewers are long-term investors using the Invest and ISA accounts rather than CFD traders, and Trading 212 invites customers to review. The Forex Peace Army page, which covers the CFD side, is far more critical, but the bundle shows no current score for it.

What traders like

  • An easy app. The most common praise on Trustpilot and Reddit is how simple the app is to set up and use, including for beginners and older relatives.

  • No commission. Reviewers like buying shares and ETFs, including fractional shares, without dealing fees.

  • Interest on cash and the Cash ISA. Smart Money People reviewers and MoneySavingExpert forum users often mention the cash interest rate.

  • Long-term trust. Several Reddit users say they and their families have used it for six or seven years without problems.

Common complaints

  • Withdrawal limits and checks. Reddit threads describe withdrawals capped below the balance until a payment method is verified, or funds that can only go back to the card used to deposit. Most say it cleared once they verified, and some say support resolved it after pushing.

  • Account verification. Money to the Masses notes that most of the few bad Trustpilot reviews are about verification and withdrawals.

  • CFD execution. On FPA, some CFD traders allege stop-outs on price spikes they did not see elsewhere, and profits removed with accounts closed. These are older, individual claims.

  • Limited for active traders. Reddit users often say it suits investing better than day trading.

Recently

  • August 2026: the Trustpilot review count passed 100,000 and the score held at 4.6.

  • Recent Trustpilot reviews keep repeating ease of use and low costs, with occasional comments that the in-app AI assistant wanders off topic.

Where this comes from

  • Trustpilot: the broker's main review page, the biggest pool of reviews.

  • Forex Peace Army: reviews of the CFD side, mostly critical.

  • Smart Money People: UK reviews by product, including the Cash ISA.

  • Reddit: a thread asking users for their frankest views.

  • YouTube: a video on why withdrawals get held.
