Overview
Interactive Investor, usually called ii, is a UK investment platform rather than a trading broker. It suits long-term investors with a decent-sized pot who want to hold shares, funds and ETFs in an ISA or pension without paying a percentage of their wealth every year. Brokerage is run by Interactive Investor Services Limited in Manchester, which is authorised and regulated by the FCA. It has more than 500,000 customers and says over half have stayed for ten years or longer.
Accounts and costs
You can open a Trading Account, a Stocks & Shares ISA, a Managed ISA, a Junior ISA or a Personal Pension (SIPP). The big selling point is the pricing model: a flat monthly fee instead of a percentage of your portfolio, so the bigger your pot gets, the cheaper it is in relative terms. On a small pot the reverse can be true, so do the sums. There's no minimum deposit on the ISA or Trading Account and no inactivity fee. There are usually sign-up offers too, such as free trades on a new ISA or Trading Account and cashback on SIPP transfers.
Platforms and markets
ii runs its own website and mobile app. It isn't a charting platform and there's no MetaTrader or TradingView. You get direct access to UK, US and several other global share markets, over 1,000 ETFs, funds, investment trusts, bonds and gilts. Experienced investors can ask about more complex instruments, but the focus is buy-and-hold investing.
Money in and out
You can pay in by debit card, which lands instantly, or by bank transfer from an account in your own name. Withdrawals go back by bank transfer only. Standard withdrawals in pounds and euros are free, and they usually take around two days to arrive.

What traders say
Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.
Interactive investor (ii) is one of the best-reviewed UK investment platforms. It holds 4.6 on Trustpilot from about 29,000 reviews and 4.3 from about 1,100 user reviews on Good Money Guide. One review site puts the share of negative Trustpilot reviews at around 7%. Its customers are mostly long-term ISA and SIPP investors rather than active traders, and the reviews reflect that.
What traders like
Phone and message support. The most common praise by far. Many reviewers name individual staff who explained a transfer, a new product or a fee change patiently and quickly.
Flat monthly fee. Investors with larger portfolios often say the fixed fee saves them a lot compared with percentage-based platforms.
Pension and ISA transfers. Several reviewers describe smooth SIPP and pension transfers, sometimes helped by cashback offers.
Ease of use. The website and app are often called clear and easy, and some like the ii Community feature.
Common complaints
Transfer and withdrawal delays. The most repeated complaint among the low reviews is slow transfers in or out, and a few forum posters say online withdrawals failed and needed several phone calls.
Fees for smaller accounts. Some reviewers were surprised by the monthly fee, which works out expensive on a small portfolio.
Account access rules. A few reviewers say they were blocked from full online services because of residency or identity checks.
Admin errors. Complaint sites list administration problems and ISA access issues as the most common categories.
Recently
September 2026: the Trustpilot count passed 28,900, with recent reviews still dominated by praise for named support staff.
October 2026: a review site updated its figures, again noting that the small share of negative reviews mostly concerns transfer delays.
Where this comes from
Trustpilot: the main review page, the biggest pool of reviews.
Good Money Guide: user reviews from UK investors.
Citywire forum: a thread on a withdrawal that would not go through online.
